A town at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.

One of the first large-scale federal industrial centers. It is best known for John Brown's raid on the Armory in 1859, a prelude to the Civil War.

  • They have a cave here that is pretty interesting.
  • I used to go to Camp Manidokan as a kid (christian camp up the river a bit) and we would always hike the C&O Canal trail to Harper's Ferry. I think they would allow us to bring $5 to spend on crap in the gift shops. I would buy those big novelty cigars "as a gift for my dad" and go back to camp and smoke them.
  • I stopped through here while on a business trip out east. Fascinating town with 1700's-era stone buildings and loads of history.
