Fourth Plinth (London)

United Kingdom / England / London
 sculpture, interesting place

The Fourth Plinth is the northwest plinth in Trafalgar Square. The other three plinths have statues, but this one remained unoccupied for 150 years. Currently, the Fourth Plinth Commission commissions temporary artworks to reside atop the plinth.

From 28 March 2018, a recreation of a now-destroyed Iamassu statue that formerly stood at the gates of Nineveh sits atop the Fourth Plinth. The sculpture is created from Iraqi date cans, and represents the destruction of Iraqi cultural and economic heritage by ISIS.
