Second World War 1939-1945, production, prisoner-of-war camp
The 50-acre industrial site was the original site of the Babcock & Wilcox boiler manufacturing facility established in 1901. In World War II, the U.S. Army operated a military supply depot and Italian POW camp there. Remnants of the concrete wall surrounding the prison camp are still visible on the east and west sides.
