It is one of the three Wildlife Sanctuaries of the Sunderbans Biosphere Reserve.Important wildlife included wild boar, macaque monkey, chitals. Lots of birds and ethenic invertebrate fauna(much of them are not properly studied at this island sanctuary also can be found.Royal Bengal Tigers are occasional visitors.
