bridge, road bridge
Expressway bridge that carries I-279 between the golden triangle of Pittsburgh to the North Side. The bridge was built between 1958 and 1963, but between 1963 and 1969 it did not connect to another road on the North Side, giving it the nickname "The Bridge to Nowhere". In 1964, a college student drove his car off of the elevated end of the bridge. The expressway connection to PA 65 was finally completed in 1969.
