railway, interlocking tower
Former PRR PITT interlocking tower. When built in 1953 PITT was the largest and one of the last installations of a Union Switch and Signal Model 14 electro-mechanical interlocking machine containing over 230 levers.
Built in a modern and massive 3-story building with a rounded PRR trademark bay window. PITT closed in the 80's when the formerly large station complex was drastically downsized with the closing of the Panhandle route and elimination of passenger operations.
Today PITT is used by the Port Authority police as a police station.
