Rego Park (New York City, New York)

USA / New York / New York City, New York
 neighbourhood, residential neighbourhood

Rego Park is a neighborhood in the western part of the New York City borough of Queens. The name is derived from combining the first two letters in the first two words of the Real Good Construction Company's name - the developer who first built large scale residential housing in this area during the 1920s.

Like its neighbor, Forest Hills, Rego Park has long had a significant Jewish population, most of which have Bukharan, Georgian and Russian Jewish ancestors, with a number of synagogues and kosher restaurants.

  • Rego Park has become a shopping mecca. Coming soon: Century21, Kohl's, and Loehmann's will join Bed Bath and Beyond, Circuit City, Old Navy, Marshall's, and Sear's, which are already popular stores on Queens Boulevard.
