  • It's constructed of white astro-turf that gets sprayed down with water. It's similar to skiing on an icy slope, but you can carve a turn on it.
  • Houston Firm Set to Donate Ski Deck For Mount Aggie The nearest ski trails are a time zone away, but Texas A&M University students are training on Mount Aggie ski slope in College Station. That training will ramp up after Friday (Sept. 21), when a Houston Sun & Ski Sports store donates a $30,000 motorized ski deck to the program. A presentation – complete with an enormous maroon bow adorning the device – is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday in Houston at Sun & Ski Sports in Memorial City Mall (Gessner Drive at I-10). The deck will help students feel more assured before approaching the slopes of either Mount Aggie or ski resorts, says George Jessup, a retired Texas A&M professor who founded the ski program and still teaches intermediate ski courses on the campus. About 300 students enroll in the program each semester. More: (http://dmc-news.tamu.edu/templates/?a=5042&z=15)
