  • My Great Grandfather, Earnest Peirce of Manasquan, NJ was 1st Mate of this ship when it was sunk. The family was told that the cargo was fuses and flares.
  • Correction: Ernest Jarrell Pearce was Chief Mate aboard the SS Norlavore, a Merchant Marine vessel. Torpedoed by a German U-boat, the night of February 24, 1942. He was a sea captain all his life, was probably in his early 50's when killed of Cape Hatteras.
  • My great-grandfather was Eduardo Aviles, an AB aboard the Norlavore.
