Ancestral estate of the Greys of Groby, and now a public park.

Lady Jane Grey ('The Nine-Days' Queen') was great-granddaughter to Henry VII. She was executed for treason in 1554 amid the complex and ruthless power struggle of the time.

  • The park has rocky outcrops some of which have fossils of some of the oldest recorded multicellular organisms known. Probably animals but no one is quite sure. The first found was Charnia which is now in a museum and was found close to Woodhouse Eaves.
