Amarkantak is a pilgrim town and a nagar panchayat in Anuppur District in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. Also called "Teerthraj" (the king of pilgrimages), Amarkantak region is a unique natural heritage area and is the meeting point of the Vindhyas and the Satpuras, with the Maikal Hills being the fulcrum. This is the place from where the Narmada River, the Sone River and Johila River emerge.

  • This is no doubt a very beautiful place. Bathing in the stream using soap and strewing polythene bags and dirt all around has polluted this beautiful spot and should be totally prohibited. The Govt of MP must take care of this issue. Moreover, arrangements for more good hotels are also required be made as it can be seen that one doesnot get a proper place to stay during peak season.
