History of All Saints Church:
The village, which was originally called Senthiatharam, was named after the missionary called Rev. Pohl in the year 1817. In 1818 a Church with thatched roof was erected. In 1819 a school was established by the efforts of Rev. Hopp. Then 18 persons studied here. In 1829, when S.P.G. Missionaries started their mission work, there were 130 members. From 1830 onwards this pastorate functioned under Mudalur Circle. In 1846 the Church building was renovated and Mr. Kailasa Nadar and others were very helpful. In 1862 a pulpit was erected. In 1863 a foundation stone was laid to the new Church. A pastor - Rev. M. Jeevanantham - was appointed in the year 1909. In 1912 the new Church was completed and was dedicated by the Rt. Rev. Arthur A Williams. It was extended on 1.9.1984 and dedicated by the Rt. Rev. Daniel Abraham. In 1990 a tower was built by Rev. W. Sargunam, and was dedicated by the Rt. Rev. Jason S. Dharmaraj. |
