St. John's UniversityThe Oakdale campus of St. John's University. Purchased in 1999 by St. John's University in Queens, NY, it is still operated by the De LaSalle Christian Brothers, who first opened it as LaSalle Military Academy in 1926. Prior to that, it was part of the estate of Frederick G. Bourne, who originally bought 438 acres and eventually owned several thousand acres, at the time the largest estate on Long Island.
