Built in 1962 as "Ben Frank's Coffee Shop". Ben Frank's closed in 1996.

Today it's a Mel's retro diner, but back in the 1960s it was one of the ultimate rock'n'roll hangouts: Ben Frank's diner. It was a favorite of Frank Zappa's and many other musicians over the years, including the Rolling Stones and Andy Warhol. What's fortunate is that the building has been preserved in all its "Goodie"-style architecture glory that harkens back to the 1950s.
