The Scandinavium is an indoor arena that is part of the Evenemangsstråket event district in Gothenburg, Sweden. Designed by Poul Hultberg, it was constructed from May 1969 to May 1971 at a cost of 31,000,000 krona. The arena's sweeping appearance comes from its hyperbolic paraboloid-shaped saddle roof. It has an all-seater capacity of 12,044, with 44 luvury boxes. The Scandinavium is the home arena of Frölunda HC, and is the venue for the annual Göteborg Horse Show. It has also hosted various concerts.
The Scandinavium hosted the European Indoor Athletics Championships in 1974, 1984, and 2013, the European Amateur Boxing Championships in 1991, the European Figure Skating Championships in 1972, 1980, and 1985, the European Men's Handball Championship in 2002, the European Women's Handball Championship in 2006, the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985, the Davis Cup Final in 1984, 1987, 1988, and 1997, the World Fencing Championships in 1973, the World Figure Skating Championships in 1976 and 2008, the Men's World Handball Championship in 1993 and 2011, the Men's World Ice Hockey Championship in 1981 and 2002, the FINA Short Course World Championships in 1997, and the World Table Tennis Championships in 1985 and 1993.
