The first school building is a stone built building consisting originally of four classrooms and a teachers office/ room in the middle. As the number of students increased, in 1940 a new classroom was added on the west side of the main building. The rapid increase of students made the need for new classrooms very pressing, so in 1960 the new, east wing, was completed which consisted of 3 new classrooms and in 1967 another 3 classrooms were added on the second floor. During the 1973-74 school year the total number of students were 400 and the staff consisted of 12 teachers. In 1967 the new wing of the building hosted in its ground floor (which was designed to be a multipurpose area, including a theater area) the first exhibition of the Ashia embroidery (1η Έκθεση Ασσιώτικων Κεντημάτων), for which the village was famous. The school yard included a vegetable and botanical garden on the northwest side of the school yard which was maintained by the students and staff as part of their gardening class.

  • This school is a history, is not a data and nobody can strike out the history, even the Turkish Army.
