556-foot, 41-story office building completed in 1975. Designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates on the former site of the New York National Guard's 71st Regiment armory, it is notable for the orientation of the tower, which lies at a 45-degree angle to Manhattan's street grid. The remaining floors are occupied by commercial office tenants.

The large piers at the base, as well as some surrounding low walls, are clad in red granite, while the tower is clad in orange brick. There is a triple-height lobby with recessed entrances of brass and glass at the northwest-facing facade. The southwest-facing side has brass and glass infill; the high school's main entrance is on the south facade (although there is also an entrance at the north), and the north facade has retail entries, also recessed.

The 11-story low rise portion at the east end has a random pattern of narrow windows on both the north and south sides. To the west the 45-degree angle of the tower begins with a series of serrated corners with narrow windows. On the northwest and southwest-facing facades, the 4th-11th floors have three bays with sections of projecting brick. Above these, the tower rises with three bays on each side, filled by curtain walls of blue glass and grey metal spandrels, and serrated corners with narrower areas of blue glass windows and metal spandrels. The four main facades angle inward at the top of the tower, with the brick piers extending slightly above the roof line.

The building is the home to many engineering organizations including IEEE (17th floor), AIChE (19th floor), and ASME (23rd floor). International advertising company Carat, The Seavey Organization, Dalton Management Company, Inner City Broadcast Holdings (WBLS/WLIB) and TransPerfect are also major tenants. The WLIB studios were the original home of the Air America radio network and the building is the setting for most of the documentary "Left of the Dial".

Besides the main lobby and high school lobby, the ground floor is occupied by a Starbucks coffee, Le Pain Quotidien restaurant, and New York Sports Clubs.
