Built in 2004, this is a replica of the main city gate (Portas da Cidade in Portuguese) to the city of Ponta Delgado, the capital of the Azores. Fall River has a large Portuguese and Azorean population, and the gates were built as a tribute to this. They are not far from the end of Columbia Street, the main center of the Portuguese community in Fall River. The gates were visited in 2007 by Aníbal Cavaco Silva, President of Portugal.
