Infamous district of Piraeus that experienced glory during the 50s and 60s. The name Trouba was taken from a pump (troba) that existed on the 2as Merarchias str. and supplied the ships with water.
Because of the port, there were several cabarets and brothels in this area.
The brothels shut down in 1968 with actions of mayor Skylitsis.
From this time Trouba was slowly forgotten, but remained in history, because of rebetiko songs and greek movies (''ta kokkina fanaria (The Red Lanterns)'' 1963-Vasilis Georgiadis ''kalos irthe to dollario (Welcome the Dollar)'' 1967-Alekos Sakellarios).
