Anand Sagar area is developed by Shri Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Trust on about 350 acres of land as Spiritual as well as entertainment center for devotees coming to Shegaon.It has all facilities to make children play & enjoy. There is a good facility of dining at economical rates. There is a "Light & Music" show daily in the evening in open theatre. Also a very nicely displayed & arranged "Acquarium".It can be planned as a one day picnic with a spiritual exposure. There is also a mini train journey.

Shegaon is a town in the Buldhana District of the State of Maharashtra in India. It is located around 550 km east of Mumbai and 300 km west from the Nagpur. It is located on Mumbai-Nagpur route on the Central Railway.

It has acquired fame as a pilgrimage center because Shri Gajanan Maharaj lived there. Hindus consider Shri Gajanan Maharaj a saint with miraculous powers. The origins of Shri Gajanan Maharaj are untraceable in history. Shri Gajanan Maharaj took "Samadhi" at Shegaon. Shri Gajanan Maharaj Temple is built on the Samadhi of Gajanan Maharaj at Shegaon. Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan is the biggest temple trust in the Vidarbha region and is so called as "Pandharpur of Vidarbha". It attracts pilgrims from all over the area. Year 2009-2010 is centenary year of Shri Gajanan Maharaj Samadhi.

  • I visited Shegaon in the last week of Jan'2012 after a gap of over five years. The Temple area of Shree Swamy Gajanan maharaj is developed very nicely.Rooms available are also neat & clean.Overall maintenance & cleanliness is remarkable.There is a scope for improvements in breakfast,lunch & dinner available in the canteen. Temple authorities should take leadership in developing the area around the temple also. As far as ANAND SAGAR is concerned,it is marvellous.Beautiful place for beautiful people. Anand sagar, bhakti niwas,anand vihar, anand visava, shegaon gajanan maharaj temple are so clean and neat. Here decipline is maintained strickly, all the sevekar are well train and maintain peace in the surrounding . they also keep the place so clean. the food we get is in economical rate also we have free bus to visit this place. sastan namaskar to Gajanan Maharaj.
