The Feinstein International Center was established in 1996 to improve humanitarian, relief and refugee efforts in times of famine, war and complex emergencies.
The Center carries out field-based research in the complex emergency environments of Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia and Sri-Lanka as well as occasional case study work in other crises. Our research, on food security, livelihoods, human rights and justice and the political economy of crises feeds into both our teaching and our long term partnerships with humanitarian and human rights agencies. Through publications, seminars and confidential evidence-based briefings we seek to influence policy making and application in the countries affected by crises and those states in a position to influence such crises.
