Catonsville High School (former)

This building, now a part of Saint Mark’s School was built as a county school to a design of Frank E. Davis of the architectural firm of Davis and Davis. It was tacked onto an earlier school of 1878, part of which was demolished. It was briefly used as a high school. In 1908 it was sold to Saint Mark’s Church and used as a parochial school. In 1986, plans were drawn to adapt the school to office use. It is of brick school construction with some Queen Anne or Beaux-Arts elements. A letter from Catonsville in the Maryland Journal on October 11, 1873, stated that “the new school commenced in later part of September is complete; Mr. Rimey of 2nd district is contractor and builder.”
