Opened as part of the BP (British Petroleum) takeover of the Amoco gas station that initially occupied the property, this McDonald's restaurant was, at the time of its opening, one of the very few in the area to be adjacent to a gas station. It was also one of the first to feature two windows for its drive-thru service: one at which drivers pay money, and the other for food pick-up.

Dine-in is also an option.

While the convenience store adjacent to the McDonald's is operated 24 hours a day, the fast food eatery itself is not.

  • This station definitely had a McDonald's when it was still Amoco, but I would say the Mickey D's was added when the existing Amoco was redone around 1997. BP bought the company in 1998, but waited until 2004 to change the station names. Coincidentally the Chevron/Texaco/Shell deal happened around the same time, along with the Getty/Lukoil/Mobil deal. I think the Springfield and Glenolden Amoco stations first got the BP sun logo (but not the BP name) put up in 2002, but waited until 2004 to change the actual name. And guess what, a BP (can I call it that?) on Germantown Ave in the city still has the Amoco name on it...
  • And get this... a couple newer Amoco/BP stations in Broomall and West Chester, both with Dunkin Donuts inside, changed their names to "Broomall Gas" and "West Chester Gas" around 2008 due to a dispute with BP corporate. But they recently reverted to BP!
