March-September 09:30-17:00 (entrance closes at 16:30)
October-February 09:30-16:30 (entrance closes at 16:00)
Closed: Mondays (except national holidays; when Monday is a holiday, closing the following Tuesday; December27 - January 4)

Admission fees:
Adult 420 yen (group of 20 or more 350 yen)
Students over 16: 250 yen (group of 20 or more 200 yen)
Students of 6-15 years old: free

A very comprehensive museum depicting the history of Japan from prehistoric times to the current period.

Rules:
* Do not use photo flash anywhere in the galleries. In certain places, photo not allowed.
Tripods may not be used. For taking photos for commercial use, one must get a permission in advance.
* Do not touch the exhibits.
* Eating and drinking in the galleries are not allowed.
* Running in the galleries is not allowed.
* Do not use any ink, including fountain pens and ball-point pens.
