Komorni Hurka Volcano - Kammerbühl

The youngest volcano at the Bohemian territory was active before some 850 000 years. Detailed exploration were made in 19th century to explain geologist Neptunist-Plutonist-Vulcanist Controversy.
The debate was not just between scientists. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of the most respected authors of the day, took sides with the Neptunists and paid a visit Komorni Hurka several times. A special 300 m long tunnel was digged on cost of Czech scientist Caspar Maria Count of Sternberg through the hill center to get apprehension about the structure of volcano rock formation.
Above the tunnel entry was placed a platform with the inscription : "GOETHE DEM ERFORSCHER DES KAMMERBÜHLS".
