CSX WEST BALTIMORE Interlocking (Baltimore, Maryland)

USA / Maryland / Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands / Baltimore, Maryland
 railway, interlocking

The Old Main Line over the Carrollton Viaduct joins the present day main line at Camden Cutoff. Camden Cutoff was built in 1867 to bypass the snaking route over the Carrollton Viaduct, and led more directly to Camden Station.

This is the point where northbound CSX traffic into Baltimore splits into Mt. Winans Yard and routes to Bayview and the north, Locust Point and Riverside yards; and the Curtis Bay complex.

Interlocking was rebuilt in 2007 as part of a capacity expansion to eliminate a bottleneck between here and the OLM junction at St Denis.

This excellent railfan site is easily accessed from Gable Avenue.
