Bhalu means Bear, Khia means Eaten and Pahada means mountain. The name might be due to the abundance of bears at this place and the shape of the mountain. However, People's tell say that in old times there stayed a Sadhu baba (Hermit) at this place. People call him Bhalukhia baba . It is said that he still is there inside the cave. During new years this palce is a Picnic hotspot for the local people. Even people from far away (as long as 200 kms) used to come here for their picnic. During night you might spot some bears at these places. During the picnics the first offering is made to Bhalukhia baba and followed by any one els.e You even can visit the cave by climbing through the steps followed by a short treacherous journey through rocks (you might need the help of trees while climbing through the rocks).
