Williamsburg (New York City, New York)

Willliamsburg is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. A traditionally Hispanic and Jewish neighborhood that has become a home for artists and "hipsters" since the late 1990s due to the potential for low rents. Home of a vibrant music and art community. As of 2006, the march of gentrification is quickening, with several upscale condo towers either under construction or recently completed, and the neighborhood's characteristic low rents becoming increasingly difficult to find.

  • Willamsburg, i.e. urban hipster wanna be trust fund babies from the Midwest, who've priced out all the real New Yorkers from the area because they want to live the city lifestyle.
  • Dont worry, once the city has the economic downturn and gets a little real again all the hipsters will run back home!
  • Ugh hipsters. I'd gladly welcome back the crack epidemic before allowing any more of these failures to roam the streets. Stay in the midwest.
