Ronald Reagan's visit to the site of Bergen-Belsen prompted the West Germans to put together a small documentation center to hold archives relating to the former concentration camp.
On the 28th October 2007 the redesigned memorial site was opened, including a large new Documentation Centre and permanent exhibition here.
