Former underground complex B9 Quartz

While the 3-rd reich tries to protect important industries against allied bomb attacks they built a secret factory between the Austrian villages Roggendorf and Melk, the so called B9 Quarz factory (names from stones as quarry means normally new built facilities).
This plant was planned for mounting axle bearings, over 5000 inmates from concentrations camps Melk died due to the inhuman conditions of the nazi armament programm.

It was said, that this plant was to produce parts of the German nuclear programm, too.
The evidence for that is more than unclear. The concentration camp of Mauthausen was to deliver the workers for that purpose as an outsourced concentration camp.
At the late days of the WWII, at 04.20.1945 there were 8345 inmates registrated.
