Covenant House Health Services was opened in 1965 to serve the health care needs of Germantown children, youth and families who did not have easy and ready access to medical services. Inspired by a civil rights rally in 1963 at the Germantown United Methodist Church, founders Jennifer Allcock, MD, and Joan Hemenway pioneered a model inner city multi-service health care clinic that was accredited in 1978 as a National Health Service Corps site.
