Boundry of Satara Dist.There is Unbarricaded 15-foot gap between two bridges over the river. While the old bridge is used by traffic going from Pune to Kolhapur, the other one, which is new, is used by traffic coming from Kolhapur. The gap in between the bridges can be a blind spot for the fast-moving traffic on the highway due to the absence of crash barriers or even warning neon signboards.

  • The car of Ad Executives Pranav Lele (29), Sahil Qureshi (28) and Shrutika Chandvani (23) alongwith Chintan Buch (28) is said to have fallen into the Nira river from the 15-foot gap of the two bridge on Saturday 2 Nov 2013. However only Chintan Buch was found dead on Wednesday 6 Nov 2013 and the car alongwith the other persons were still missing. Search operation by NDRF was still on.
