Prabalgad,

one of the biggest forts in sahaydri ranges. Even bigger than Harishchandra gad.
With huge platue on the top. Even today one can go and explore it. It has two caves which can be accessed with spacious rooms within it, Matherans one tree hill, echo point, louiesa point, and sun set points can be seen from the fort, below the fort Salman khans, and Dilip vengserkar Bunglows with swimming pool can be seen.

The first fortification with steps is a fort called Kalavantin.

Prabalgad lies on the Prabal plateau between Matheran and Panvel and can be seen from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The Ulahas River runs to the east of the fort. The Gadhi River, and the Chanderi and Peb forts are to the west. To the south is the Patalganga River and Manikgad fort and to the north is the Karnala fort.

  • Visited this fort in the seventies. Could be reached from Chowk Village on the Highway. Part of the series of hills incl Matheran, Prabal, Vishalgadh on the west side. The East line with Matheran, Peb , Chanderi etc. close to the rail line.
