aircraft, abandoned / shut down
Last of a number of Martin 404s that rotted away at GPT during the 1990s and early 2000s. At one time there were around half a dozen of the rare propliners stored here. Most were survivors of Provincetown-Boston Airways (PBA) which had had its operating certificate yanked by the FAA due to sketchy maintenance procedures. For awhile the Martins were stored with other ex-PBA aircraft in Naples, Florida before being ferried here. Whereabouts and fate of the other 404s is indistinct. At least one was later impounded by the US Drug Enforcement and two were scrapped. The aircraft seen here is likely N40413, though it could also be N40407, N40415, N40424 or N969M.
