Hudson Woods Entrance Gate and Parking Lot

The Hudson Woods Unit of San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge consists of over 1000 acres of old growth forest, an oxbow lake (Scoby Lake), willow swamps, and partially cleared land which will be restored to wetland forest. As the years pass there are changes to the forest ecosystem. Through a natural process called ecological succession, new plants and trees come to life while others die.

From this parking lot, visitors may proceed on foot along the Scoby Lake Trail around Scoby Lake.

A second parking lot, located near the education center, is available when events are scheduled at the center. Visitors attending these events may drive through the second gate and proceed north to the second parking lot.
