this church was basically built by the first Konkani settlers who were uprooted from their land, the konkan coast by the Hyder Ali and then by his son, ironically it was another Muslim Ruler, The Arackkals, who gave them the sanctuary in their kingdom this land popularly known as Flower Garden area has another famous landmark just opposite to it the "Venkataraman Temple", also built by the GSB brothers who also got the Sanctuary from the same Arackkal Family of Rulers, from the Marauding Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.
