Orlik valley dam was built in the years 1954–1961 in Solenice village over the Vltava River and was named homonymic after the Castle Orlik (Eaglet) on its rocky bank.
The concrete body of dam is 450 m long and 91 m high, affloated area is 2.732 ha with 68 km length, on tributaries Otava River 23 km and Luznice River 7 km. Maximum depth is 74 m. Retained water capacity is 280 millions of cubic meters. Total capacity of four turbines makes 364 MW.
