Thomson Memorial Park is the birthplace of the City of Scarborough. First opened in 1960, the park commemorates the site staked out by the first settlers of Scarborough, the Thomson family, who arrived in 1796.

Thomson Memorial is one of Scarborough's most popular parks, offering a variety of activities, including tennis, soccer, softball and a wading pool for kids. The park has four picnic shelters that can hold up to 675 people, ideal for family and office outings.

Visitors to the park will not want to miss the Scarborough Historical Museum, where you can learn all about the early settlers to the area. For information on tours contact the Recreation, Parks and Culture Department.
