This was the intermediate dock of the "London Docks" that connected the "Western Dock" and the "Eastern Dock" to each other. AS it name suggests it was where Tobacco was unloaded and stored. The London Docks stored the high value goods that came into London. Today (Jan 2009) all that remains is a canal that is smaller than the original dock, but does follow a simular route and an empty building also called Tobacco Dock.
