baseball -to be removed cleaned, softball field
Dean's Field is best known as the place where Johnny Unitas, prior to becoming an NFL legend, played semi-pro football with a team called the Bloomfield Rams in 1955. The field was transformed in the early 1980s into a multi-sport playground with used artificial turf from Three Rivers Stadium. Poor turf conditions and inadequate size (the football field was 20 yards too short) were problems. A newly renovated Dean's Field opened in the spring of 2008, this time as a natural-grass ballpark for youth baseball and softball.
