Jamshed Town is the largest of the towns in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan and lies in the central part of Karachi. To the northwest is Liaquatabad Town across the Lyari River, while to the east is Gulshan Town and to the southeast is Korangi Town across the Malir River. Jamshed is bordered by Karachi Cantonment and Clifton Cantonment to the west. The population of Jamshed Town was estimated to be about 730,000 at the 1998 census, of which 99% are Muslim. There are several ethnic groups including Muhajirs, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc.

Jamshed town is a mixed town, some of its neighborhoods like Defence View, Garden East, Soldier Bazar, Nursery and P.E.C.H.S. are considered to be upper middle class and the town also houses large slums in the center of the city.

Jamshed town is home to Karachi's premier shopping street of Tariq Road and Bahadurabad, major city landmarks: Quaid Mausoleum, Karachi Zoological garden, Hill park and Jheel park, major entrance to DHA, Korangi road and Shaheed-e-Millat expressway. Ethnically the town is also home to the city's largest minority communities of Shias, Memons, Christians, Parsis and Hindus making it very sensitive.
