Trakia Park (Stara Zagora)

Bulgaria / Stara Zagora / Stara Zagora

The 11 decares' park was built and planted between 1953-1972. The locals call it 'The Tsar' due to its proximity to the boulevard Tsar Simeon Veliki. It is also known as the 5th Primary School garden.
The jewel of the park is the monument 'Edirne's Epopee'. Its height is 3.5 m, it is comprised of 4 stone blocs and it resembles a sacrificial alter. On top of the middle bloc is the Medal for Courage in the Balkan War and underneath it there is a written part of general Georgi Vazov's orders to the participating officers. On the right side there is an inscription 'Stara Zagora Municipality' and on the left is 'Thracian society Edirne's epopee'.
