Main Terminal Building of Glasgow International Airport. Built in 1966 to a design by the often controversial architect Sir Basil Spence. Much of Spence's original Brutalist design is now hidden behind the 1989 extension - basically a white metal box that was built around the original terminal. You can still see the original design from the rear when you are on the apron, and above the check-in desks.

Skyhub (a shared security checkpoint for the three piers) was added in 2008, sadly this also put most of the landside shops and the former public viewing area after security.

In 2010 the airport handled 6,548,865 passengers, making it the second busiest in Scotland, after Edinburgh Airport, and the eighth busiest airport in the United Kingdom.

The airport is owned and operated by BAA. The Airport is a base for airlines such as BMI Regional, EasyJet, Flybe and Loganair, Jet2, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways, and also houses maintenance facilities for British Airways.

The aiport was the target of an unsuccessful terrorist attack on June 30, 2007, when a Jeep Cherokee loaded with propane canisters was slammed into the main terminal building causing some structural damage. There were no civilian deaths.
