amphitheatre, invisible
One of four training camps for gladiators built by Domitian (A.D. 51-96) in the area around the Colosseum. It was called “Matutinus” (“Morning”) because it was where the animal hunters trained, and their events took place in the morning. In the center was an oval arena where the hunters could train; around that was a courtyard and rooms for hunters and their trainers.
