Divided into several "ranges" Kahuku training area is the site of most Brigade level exercises (Lightning Thrust Warrior and Lightning Thrust Bronco). As of the lat 90s there were a number of defunct wind turbines scattered about the ridgelines in the middle of the training area. They were is pretty bad disrepair and thus were torn down. Additionally a very large wind turbine sporting a NASA and Department of Energy logo on it (nick named big red due to its very large red wind vanes) was also torn down.
