This bridge built by the British was not maintained properly by the natives in the area who have all the time in the world for organising hartals for stupid reasons like squabbles during election of college committees like the one which took place in Sept 2007 last week.So now that the main highway between Kannur and Thalassery is blocked because of this unsafe bridge which is in a state of sudden collapse and until a new bridge is constructed in its place there is going to be a lot of hell for traffic going to and from Thalassery and Kannur!!!
