statue, fountain, sculpture
Statue and fountain representing the guardian of water. The sculpture is a replica of one located at the San Diego County Administrative Center in San Diego, California, USA. The sculpture was gifted to Yokohama by the City of San Diego as part of the Sister City program in 1960. The original sculpture was designed by the San Diego sculptor Donal Hord. The stature represents a pioneer woman holding a water jug, symbolic of San Diego’s guardianship over one of its most precious resources: water. The Yokohama sculpture is located within a large pool with dancing fountains surrounding it.
