There are 11 gates into Kruger, allowing visitors some flexibility in their itineraries. You should plan to arrive at the gates with enough time to reach your overnight camp, as arriving after the camp gates close will incur a stiff penalty.

The "Pafuri Border Post" is one of two gates that provides entrance to the eastern region of the northern area of the Kruger National Park and leads straight to the Pafuri section, north of Punda Maria camp, in the Kruger Park. Not only does this border post provide access between South Africa and Mozambique, but it also forms one of the major links for the "Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park". The other access gate for the GLTP is at the Giriyondo Border Post, situated on the South Africa / Mozambique border, east of the region between Letaba and Mopani rest camps.

The GLTP consists of the following national parks and areas:
1. Limpopo National Park (Mozambique),
2. Kruger National Park (South Africa),
3. Makuleke Contractual Area (South Africa),
4. Sengwe Corridor (Zimbabwe),
5. Gonarezhou National Park (Zimbabwe),
6. Malipati Safari Area (Zimbabwe), and
7. Manjinji Pan Sanctuary (also Zimbabwe).

Mozambican President Joachim Chissano, South Africa's President Thabo Mbeki and Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe signed the treaty for the establishment of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park on December 9, 2002 in Xai-Xai, Mozambique.
