Dargah Sharif: Top-wale Baba (Udaipur)


This is the highest point on Udaipur and a wonderful sunrse point. As the sylvan rays of the rising sun falls on the Monsoon Palace far away in the West (which is mostly blocked by mist round the day), you feel it's different. And it's wonderful to see the palaces glow up, both the City one on the bank on Pichhola as well as the Octopussy or Jhinder Bandi island of Jagniwas.

I think this is actually the Eklingarh fort...I was up there and it is a fortified structure, I don't think it is a mosque at all. It is possible that there is a dargah (Muslim sufi saint's shrine) inside the fort. Top-wale baba would mean "saint associated with cannon(s)", which makes sense as Eklingarh was known for having a famous cannon in it.
