This is the central passenger railway station in Kaepung County. It is located on the Pyongbu Line which theoretically connects PYONGyang to BUsan but which really ends just north of the DMZ. This station was one of the original stations opened by the Japanese on the Kyongui Line in 1906, though it was then known as T'osŏng Station (土城驛, Dojō in Japanese) and located in the township of the same name. In 1952 the station was moved to Kaepung Town to centralize it, and was thus renamed.
